An Update in Lieu of Any Updates

Obviously, I have not updated this blog recently.

I've kept myself busy on other personal projects
which unfortunately caused me to neglect this blog.

However...

I am currently working on a couple of article types
to be presented here, hopefully this week.

One piece is a follow up to my proposed question of "Is Herzog Serious?"
The others are all super secret surprises (nobody will be surprised).

In the meantime,
I'll point you guys to something else going on in the Internet.*

Daily Science-Fiction-- that is of dailysciencefiction.com-- has a Kickstarter campaign going on.

 [ Here's the link ]

Daily Sci-Fi is pretty much what it's name suggests:  an online magazine which publishes science-fiction daily.

They have some interesting stuff appear on there.  They are also one of the many fine publications which turned down one of my attempts at a short story.
Albeit, the story was probably not worthy of publication.

They're a paying market who provide fiction for FREE.
So I figure they're worth supporting.

 [ Here's the link again]

(next post will have an image or video of some sort, I promise!)

"The Pyramids of Chaos" -- Stanislaw Lem -- The Investigation

What if there isn't anything to imitate?
What if the world isn't scattered around us like a jigsaw puzzle--
what if it's like a soup with all kinds of things floating around in it,
and from time to time some of them get stuck together by chance to make some kind of whole?

What if everything that exists is fragmentary, incomplete, aborted, events with ends but no beginnings, events that only have middles,
things that have fronts or rears but not both,
with us constantly making categories, seeking out, and reconstructing,
until we think we can see total love, total betrayal and defeat,
although in reality we are all no more than haphazard fractions.

[...]

The mathematical order of the universe is our answer to the pyramids of chaos.

J. G. Ballard + Social Media -- the Virtual & the Real

The ever-relevant Ballardian.com has put up a new article, this one about J. G. Ballard predicting Social Media.

Here's a quote / preview:

[Everybody] will be living inside a TV studio.
That's what the domestic home aspires to these days ...
We're all going to be starring in our own sit-coms,
and they'll be very strange sit-coms, too, like the inside of our heads.
That's going to come, I'm absolutely sure of that,
and it'll really shake up everything.
-- J.G. Ballard

Read the rest of the article here:

(what better way to talk about the condemnation of social media than on my personal blog?)

Although the article's title makes mention of Reality TV,
it doesn't talk at much length about the topic,
but I guess it shares principles with CCTV & Social Media?
Reality TV sort of borrows CCTV's "form" but applies the mechanics of traditional entertainment TV & Social Media.

I'm not the most familiar with J. G. Ballard's work, I've read The Day of Creation and a few of his short stories, but what I have read was intriguing -- and Ballardian.com has a lot of interesting articles and essays applying Ballardianism to our present day and age.
